Plain English. No surprises.

What we collect

• Account, when you register — username, email, hashed password.
• Your predictions — the box-office numbers and streaming categories you predict for each movie. These are how the game works.
• Your game state — streak count, best streak, total predictions, accuracy score, tokens, league membership, head-to-head challenges, season medals, trailer reactions.
• Feedback you submit — your message, optional name + email if you provided them.
• Aggregate page views — every page load sends an anonymous record (site, path, referrer, screen size, timestamp) to a first-party endpoint that increments daily counters only. No per-visitor IDs, no cookies, no IP storage.
• Server logs — standard web-server access logs (IP, time, path, status). Rotated. Not joined to your account.

What we don't collect

• No Google Analytics, Facebook pixel, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Hotjar, Segment, or any third-party tracker.
• No advertising identifiers and no ad targeting. OpeningWeekend runs no ads.
• No behavioral profile of you. We predict movie box-office outcomes — we do not predict your behavior, your engagement, or your churn. Every player sees the same predictions for the same movies.
• No call to OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or any other LLM vendor with your personally identifying information.
• No session-replay tools.

About the predictions

The columns named predicted_opening, predicted_domestic, and predicted_worldwide in our database hold our forecasts of each movie's box-office performance. They are not predictions about you. We do not model players.

Third-party data sources

• Movie metadata, posters, and box-office data come from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Deleting your data

Email [email protected] with the subject "delete my account" and we will remove your row from the users + predictions + leagues tables within 7 days.

Changes

If we ever change this policy in a way that affects what we collect, the change date will be updated below and noted on the home page.
